Mohammadreza Bahraman, vice president of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, called for realistic decisions reflecting conditions in mining. He warned that unresolved problems over the next year would place greater pressure on mines, with consequences for production, jobs, transport and local economies.
Board member Amin Pourzad said the association should draw on its members to reduce bureaucracy in supply and manufacturing and help resolve the mining sector's problems.
Iran's ultra-heavy mining machinery relies on imported tires because new tires for major mines are not manufactured domestically. Import costs therefore directly raise mining costs, alongside transport risks and lengthy order registration and foreign exchange allocation. The report calls for policy to distinguish goods with domestic alternatives from those without.
Board member Saber Baltauff said optimism about the future and belief in the capabilities that a coordinated structure could unlock in mining motivated efforts to establish the association.
Askari, head of IMIDRO's mining machinery project, welcomed the association as a way to coordinate and align Iran's machinery manufacturing, supply and repair capabilities.
Gholamreza Maleki of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce said parliamentary consideration of the Mining Law offers an opportunity to identify and address monopolies in the mining supply chain.
Mohammadreza Bahraman, head of Iran Mine House and an association board member, said the association responds to a genuine need: after years of specialist work, businesses saw the need for an independent body to meet the mining sector's supply requirements.
Fariborz Amiri, the association's chair, said stronger connections between mines, manufacturers, suppliers and technical service providers should reduce machinery downtime, shorten supply processes, improve quality and increase mining productivity.
The association's chair announced the formal start of its activities, saying that obtaining the required authorizations and launching the association opens a new chapter of cooperation among mining and industrial machinery businesses.
The Tehran Association of Mining and Industrial Parts and Machinery Suppliers and Manufacturers has been formed with support from Iran Mine House and registered under the Tehran Chamber of Commerce to organize the sector, support manufacturing and suppliers, improve the business environment and pursue members' legitimate interests.
