The Association Begins with a Problem-Focused Approach

Fariborz Amiri, the association's chair, said stronger connections between mines, manufacturers, suppliers and technical service providers should reduce machinery downtime, shorten supply processes, improve quality and increase mining productivity.

According to IMMPAC's public relations office, Fariborz Amiri told the association's launch ceremony that its establishment is more than the creation of another organization. It marks a shared responsibility to build closer connections among mines, manufacturers, suppliers and technical service providers, with results that should be visible in everyday mining operations.

He said mining cannot be defined solely by extraction. Sustainable production depends on machinery being ready for use, parts arriving on time and at reliable quality, dependable technical services, and purchasing and maintenance decisions based on accurate information.

Mining company managers experience the effects of parts shortages, late deliveries, uncertain quality, inadequate after-sales service and unplanned machinery stoppages firsthand, he said. Each hour of downtime can cost more than the part itself and affect other stages of production.

A Problem-Focused Association

The chair stressed that the association should not become merely an administrative body. It should be a specialist, accountable organization that focuses on problems and offers practical solutions to mines' real needs.

Its work must begin by listening to the mining sector's actual concerns. Without hearing mining managers' experience, setting priorities from real data and measuring results, the association would lose sight of its purpose.

Amiri said the aim is to identify, document and prioritize shared problems from operational experience and establish a clear follow-up process for each one.

Manufacturers and Suppliers Share One Supply Chain

He said manufacturers and suppliers of mining equipment are not opponents within this chain. They share the task of helping mining production continue.

Quality, product authenticity, delivery time, after-sales services, safety and the real cost of ownership should be central criteria when assessing mining equipment and parts.

An Iranian or foreign name alone does not guarantee quality, Amiri said. Measurable performance and professional commitment create trust.

He described support for domestic manufacturing as an important principle, saying it should lead to better quality, technological development, competitive pricing and customer confidence.

At the same time, transparent and professional sourcing of goods and technologies not yet produced domestically in sufficient quantities is necessary to prevent mine stoppages. The objective should be to complete the supply chain intelligently rather than create confrontation.

Joint Specialist Working Groups with Mining Companies

Amiri identified regular, direct contact with mining company managers as the association's first operational priority. He proposed joint meetings and specialist working groups to identify operating fleets, critical parts, repair and maintenance bottlenecks, modernization needs and opportunities for domestic manufacturing.

Each issue should have a designated person responsible, a timetable and results that can be followed up.

He also listed improved standards, assessment of manufacturers' and suppliers' actual capabilities, technical training, technology transfer and stronger after-sales services as areas of work.

A mine should know the quality of what it purchases, the service and support available, and who will be accountable when assistance is needed, he said.

Taking the Mining Sector's Concerns to Policymakers

Where follow-up with policymakers and executive agencies is needed, Amiri said the association must communicate a shared, documented position, supported by credible information, expert proposals and workable solutions rather than scattered complaints.

He identified transparency, accountability, genuine member participation, fair competition, professional ethics and collective interests as guiding principles. Success would not be measured by the number of meetings or letters.

Instead, the measures should be less machinery downtime, shorter supply processes, improved quality, successful domestic manufacturing and higher mining productivity.

Amiri said the association would work to become active, trustworthy and focused on results. He invited mining company managers to view it as a professional partner and share their real needs so that solutions can be developed together.

He thanked the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, as the institution responsible for the association's activities, and Dr. Maleki, the chamber's deputy for parliamentary affairs, associations and social affairs, for their support during its establishment and launch.
